Rygea is a smaller human dominated province that has been established for near 40 years under one monarchy. The unique soil, areas of low elevation and proximity to a large body of water have made the coastal province extremely fertile for crops. The boundaries of the province are sculpted out by the sea to the south up to the large looming mountains in the north creating a natural bowl and rain shadow. Because of this the terrain is mostly dense woods until it approaches the sea where the silt and terrain become increasingly unstable making it unfit for larger plants and most human dwelling. The main access north and south to the sea is the river that spans the distance and at the heart of it is one of Rygea’s main cities, Sirilion. Due to the moist climate, heavy rain, ponds and lakes are common.
The ideal fertile area has made the cities a hub of commerce and fiercely reliant on exports. However, the unique and favorable conditions have made the region a historic target for larger empires to incorporate. This has also made Rygea awash with old battlefields and painful memories for older native residents. Different empires have influenced the development of the region and some amalgamations of culture have not gone as smooth as others.
